Is it time to work?
How to earn money

According to Brazilian law, you can only participate in the labor market formally if you´re 16 or older, or older than 14 if the job you´re seeking is in accordance with the Young Apprentice law. But the laws do not prevent you from creating alternative ways of having some sort of paid activity, such as having a small business, for instance.

However, first of all you must consider whether or not you have time for the work you want to do.  Of course the most important occupation during this time of your life is studying. So bear in mind that no kind of work should get in the way of your study time. In order to get organized, the best thing to do is to take a pencil and a piece of paper and make a list of the things that already occupy your time. Your list should include:

School
Homework
Chores
Family appointments
Meals
Sports you play

Complete the list according to your activities and see if you have some time left after school. What about weekends? Take everything into consideration before making any decision. And, it´s also important to discuss your ideas with your family. Not only do you need their consent for any kind of work, but they can also help you with great tips.
